Things that make you go hmmmmm....Part two...

June 21, 2009...

It seems along way from the inauguration but for the President, it may seem even longer.  As I mentioned here, Obama's approval index has been going down steadily.  For those who are tooooo lazy to click on my past post let me explain. The presidential approval index is the difference between the "strongly approve" and "strongly disapprove" numbers.  On January 21, 2009 which is the day President Obama was inaugurated  he polled a 44/16 meaning the approval index was +28.  On June 6, 2009 he polled a 34/34 which made his approval index 0. Today, for the first time, he polled a 32/34.  For those of you who can do trig but not simple math...That is a -2.

Hope and Change...It looks like most people HOPE they can feed their family on the spare CHANGE they have left!

Those who know me well know that if there is one thing that I could not live without, it is music.  I love it all!  In my CD/iTunes collection you will find AC/DC and opera, Toby Keith and "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," or Holst and Brian Wilson.  I love it, consume it, and am completely infected by it.

So from time to time, I comment on it (as if anyone really cares).

Remember the 1945 Guy Wood and words by Sammy Gallop classic, "Shoofly Pie and Apple Pan Dowdy?"  The first version of this classic that I heard was the June Christy version.  But since it has been tackled by several but triumphed by few.  It is especially "tastey" when a young person takes an old song an simply kills it.  Which brings us to Rachael Price. 

WOW! 

With a smooth voice and a completly authentic delivery, this Australian born girl will capture you as her voice rolls over you like molasses.  She nails Shoofly with a playful manner that is better than the original.  Her solo work is great and I promise you you will love it!!

A thought on the Iranian election and our "thoughtfull" President...

Well, here we sit.  Just a couple days have passed since Mahmoud Ahmadinejad won an election that almost nobody, at least nobody credible, believes was legitimate.  On Friday, President Obama had this to say...

"We are excited to see what appears to be a robust debate taking place in Iran"

Uhmmmm...really?  Is that the best we have to offer from our leadership?

Of course, after watching the events that occurred in Minnesota this election cycle, I guess it would be difficult for him to take an ideological stand against stolen elections wouldn't it?

BUT...never fear.  In the same article Secretary Clinton said...

"It's a very positive sign that the people of Iran want their voices and their votes to be heard and counted. And like many people inside and outside of Iran we are going to wait and see what the results are"

This really has to be looked at in two parts. 

First - "It's a very positive sign that the people of Iran want their voices and their votes to be heard and counted."  Yes it is. But, it is a very negative sign that our own Secretary of State couldn't muster the courage to say that in order to BE legitimate, those voices and votes must be counted. 

Second - "like many people inside and outside of Iran we are going to wait and see what the results are." Wow!!  That's tough talk.  Ms. Clinton, can I get you anything other than a lawn chair and a six-pack while to watch this unfold?

Things that make you go Hmmmm......

Yesterday something amazing happened.  I heard NO media outlet mention what happened...NONE!  It was a major milestone in the Obama Presidency, something that I know everyone in the administration was well aware of.  We however heard nothing.  Hmmm...

There are a bunch of tracking polls out there but only a handful use likely voters.  Historically those polls are more accurate and a better indicator of what is happening in the country, or at least the electorate.  Of those polls, Rasmussen has been the gold standard.  Did you see that tracking poll result yesterday???

Is there an intellectually honest Obama supporter out there?

I have several friends that voted for President Obama. All did so for various reasons but they also agreed on one thing...One tag line...One singular message propagated by Obama on the campaign trail.  Yes, I am going to say it...CHANGE.  A word that I embraced a year ago now makes me cringe as if I were sucking lemons while listening to nails on a chalkboard. NOTHING else was important, just change.  At any level, at any cost, regardless of what the problem was, change was the answer.

Slowly they have begun to waver in their support but they all still support him.  I wonder why? 

 I also wonder what it is that makes them so willing to blindly follow???

Example:  Today we see this.  GM will enter bankruptcy and quickly be sold to the government who would immediately turn it over to the union.  Huh?  Every credible analyst or consultant connected to the auto industry will tell you that the union is the problem.  Understand, THERE IS NOBODY WHO BELIEVES THAT THE SOLUTION TO GM'S PROBLEMS IS THE UNION." 

Is there nobody who voted for Obama that will be intellectually honest enough to say that this is what it is? 

It is a payoff, nothing more, nothing less. 

The "I have a set big enough to bring in a dump truck award"

After much though and careful consideration, I have decided to bestow the first ever "I have a set big enough to bring in a dump truck award" to President Barack Obama. 

After basically calling conservatives racists during the election, after his own DHS called "single issue" voters a threat to our nation and radical extremists...This guy had the unmitigated gall to say that both sides in the abortion debate should stop demonizing each other.  HUH?

...he still implored the University of Notre Dame's graduating class and all in the U.S. to stop "reducing those with differing views to caricature. Open hearts. Open minds. Fair-minded words. It's a way of life that always has been the Notre Dame tradition."

A caricature??  This guys has done that to auto executives, CEO's, financial mangers, doctors, the military, the Bush administration, Pro-lifers, gun-owners, Republicans, conservatives (yes, they are different), Tea Party organizers and attendees, and the list goes on!

Here's to you Mr. President!

A list of accomplishments from the man who would follow Prez-O

You don't hear this talked about much but President Obama, much to the chagrin of the left, cannot be President forever.  Alas, even the messiah himself can't fix that.  So let's say he manages to get re-elected (which I think is a long shot) and serves two terms.  Smokin' Joe Biden would be in position to run and would have the incumbent advantage.  Thoeretically he should win. 

Fox News was nice enough to treat us to someof the best our VP has to offer.  I can see it now...Ha!
